  The Prize

Many rivers I’ve crossed to

the sea,

Dainty coves gave comfort

to my liberty,

and though I climbed mountains

and valleys searching for peace,

only the oarsman

delivered me,

they can have the stuff of

so called dreams,

the pawns and pesos

of worldly things

let whomever will fly to

the next constellation,

providence also found me,

but only in promised arms

would grace anoint me,

came your perfumed voice

sweetly echoing,

by starlight to your harbor

I’ve arrived,

oh yes, this captain claims

his prize,

so let not a minute age

on those arms you race to

hold me for which I came.
