Peace, Love & Hand Sanitizer Edition #6 Welcome to the sixth issue of Hospitality House's Peace, Love & Hand Sanitizer.   A Note from Ellen Hurtado, Director of Programs, Hospitality House History tells us that pandemics force humans to change, and imagine something new out of the wreckage of the pandemic.  COVID-19 is no different.  It is a time of transition for us and our society.  We can choose to walk through it moaning and groaning, trying to go back to “normal,” or we can walk through it looking for the light, looking to change the oppression of ourselves and our neighbors. The battle to grow will not be easy, and we really do not have a choice.  During the response to COVID-19 we have seen things we cannot unseen.  We have seen the best in our fellow human and the worst. These days have certain heaviness to them and they will be long.  We need to look for life:  the life of the trees; the life of the birds; and my favorite, hearing children’s voices.  We need to support the life of ourselves and our neighbors.   Please join us.                                    “Our prime purpose in life is to help others.                             And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.”                                                             ~Dalai Lama CARE FOR A CHAT? Nothing to do but ruminate, ponder and worry. Later today, I cough and I worry, I feel warm, I sneeze, I feel sore after working,  I worry. I run after the bus and huffing and puffing my warm breath in my mask, I try not to breathe as I look for a place to sit down-- I worry. Outwardly, I tell others--  This will go away someday... Alone, thinking in silence, I worry. Every little thing briefly flashes very briefly, terror in my head-- have I got it? Is this the beginning of my end? And then I straighten my shoulders, put on my mask, which hides my fear, and walk outside -- awesomely IT'S SUNNY!
