2022 - 2023 Annual Report
|
All of us at Hospitality House are excited to present our 2022-2023 Annual Report. This year’s theme is “Hope in the Midst of Hardship”.
Though the worst of the COVID crisis may be behind us, San Francisco’s full recovery is still unrealized. Indeed, the City of St. Francis needs its nonprofit workforce more than ever, as we reaffirm our commitment to rebuilding communities, particularly communities of color, and revitalizing our local economy for those workers who sustained the City during the depths of the pandemic. This year’s report features “ Stories From The Field,” spotlighting more than a dozen staff who’ve worked ten years or more at Hospitality House, recognizing their stories. Notable among them is Dolly Herrera, a case manager at the Tenderloin Self Help Center, who will soon celebrate THIRTY-ONE years of service at Hospitality House! As we reflect on this past fiscal year’s achievements and milestones – we gratefully acknowledge that those achievements and milestones are made possible by your generosity and continued support. We’re humbled by your belief in our work. You sustain us, and motivate us. This year’s Annual Art Auction was a phenomenal success, raising more than $150,000 to support Hospitality House programs and talented community artists. Your support of the arts – and local artists – made this year’s event our most successful ever. Our dedicated case management team helped nearly 300 community residents with much-needed housing assistance from a range of sources to help secure long term housing for hundreds of unhoused and/or marginally housed residents. Ending homelessness, one person at a time. Remarkable! Lastly, we dedicate this year’s Annual Report to the memory of Joyce Juan Manalo, who succumbed to ovarian cancer earlier this Summer. Joyce was a beloved artist, activist, and mentor to a generation of Filipino artists and community activists. She leaves behind family, siblings, friends and admirers, as well as her partner, fellow activist and community warrior, and her loving husband of 28 years, A. Samson Manalo, Hospitality House’s Director of Development. We love you, Joyce! Thank you for helping us recognize stories from the field, and reflect on all that we can do to sustain each other in triumph, and tragedy. Hope in the midst of hardship… Gratefully, Joseph T.
